Mackie is out of surgery

From Mackie's mom--Mackie had to have surgery this morning...Thank you for your prayers! I just got the call that Mackie is out of surgery! The doc said he is doing okay. His intestine was a bit more comprimised than he had hoped, but he pulled out a baby sock from him so i can put the fear of a mass or tumor aside. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND PRAYERS!! He had left those blasted socks alone for hte past few years and I guess he is back at it. I will have to gate off the laundry room!
Now our boy is on the road to recovery. Thank you ALL!!

Prayers for Mackie

Finnegan here---just wanted to let you all know that my big brother mackie is in the hospital tonight and sure could use some prayers. He was vomiting yesterday and was slowly going downhill today when mom and dad called the vet and asked her to meet them to check him out. They did and xray which looks good. His pancreas looks good too (whatever in the heck that thng is..) but his white bloos cell count is high. They have him on fluids and antibioticss tonight and have kept him despite mom and dad begging to find someway to let him come home (see Mackie has anxiety and hates to be crated or kenneled and doesn't do well in strange places expecially without my mom or dad) The doc siad something about sedating him some so he isn't fully awake all the time, but mom and dad are worried and it sure feels wierd around here without him. So if you are praying pups, how about a shout-out for my brother Mackie. Pretty sure he can use all the help he can. oh, and mom could probably use a valium too...just sayin'

Well, you asked!

Mackie's mom here---
I just wanted to share with you all the scene here this morning. I had Emme in her high chair in the kitchen having her breakfast. Mackie is sitting next to her chair because Emme has started eating those puffs and many of them make their way to the floor to him (he's no dummy!)
Anyway, I feed the baby and when she is done, I put my hands out to ask her if she is ready to get out---"Up?" I ask. "Up?" So Mackie stands up on his rear legs and puts his arms in the air. You just have to love and old, wise dog!!!

Rest in peace dear sweet girl. You will be missed by so many.

Missed me by this much...

I think winter has arrived on a massive gust of wind. Its very cold and blowing very hard here. For some reason today is the day that dad chose to get on a ladder and clean out the gutters and mom chose to climb out on the roof to put up the Christmas wreath. I would never be so foolish, but still, I seemed to be the one at risk today.
Mom coaxed Finnegan and I out into that wind to go pee and went inside to check on Emme who was fussing. I did my business and came to stand by the back door on the top two steps. In a few minutes, Dad came to let me in. I strolled in, dad called Finnegan who was playing his usual hard to get, dad called again and Finnegan came running just as hit hit the bottom of the stairs as large tree limb fell from high above (from our 100 year old plus pecan tree which is HUGE!) and it fell on the top few steps--just where I was standing a few moments before and where Finnegan was running to and next to where my Dad was standing (although he was covered by the porch.)
So thankful the big guy upstairs was looking out for us!

The times, they are a changin'

Well guys, I'm not sure if any of my friends are left out there, but I'm still here and wanted to say hello! my mom finally let me get back on the confuser after almost a year. I think all of you know that my mommy was pregnant so I guess she had a good excuse, but geez--a guy needs to stay in touch with his friends and all.

Just to update everyone, we have a new family member. Mom and Dad call her Emme. Here's a picture of her.

(they say "Emmy" but spell it "Emme" and I say "stinky" and spell it "stinky!" hehehehehe)She was born in June and will be turning 6 months old next week. She is a cute little thing, but I'll tell you that she's taken just about all of my alone time with my mommy. Sometimes I like the little squirt because she seems to think that Finnegan and I are the best things on the planet and laughs her head off at our antics(and let's face it, the kid is on to something there), but then othertimes she makes loud noises and seems to want to be the center of attention all the time and I'm just not sure that I care for that. I mean come'on grow up already!

Finnegan is a real do-gooder because he is always doing things like laying his head in the baby's lap and making her giggle and stuff
and mom always gives him a big "awwwwww! Finnegan you are the bestest sweet boy!"
Yuck! I could lay my head in her lap and stuff too, but mom and dad won't let me get near the little squirt. They keep saying something about my record. (I know I can sing and all, but I've never even been in a recording studio so I have no idea what they are talking about.)

Anyway, we are settling in a bit more these days so I hope mom stops making excuses for why I can't get online. I hope all my friends and their people are doing well despite all that's going on in the world today.

Hugs to you all and Happy Holiday's!

Mackie

Wow! What a Nose!!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday and are able to spend it with people and furry one's you love the most.

Mom asked me to let her have a little space on my blog to tell a funny story...
Hi all..just wanted to tell you about Mackie's nose..We have learned in our home that we can't put Christmas presents under the tree for the boys because Mackie will open them. He goes around smelling each present and knows which are his. So, we've been getting the boys Christmas presents last thing before Christmas. We went shopping last night and I had Mackie in the kitchen feed them dinner when Steve brought the bag in the house, took it upstairs to our bedroom closet. I was planning on wrapping them today and putting them under the tree early tomorrow, like Santa. When Mackie was finished eating he came out to the living room and the nose went in the air. He walked around smelling everything---all the presents under the tree, each bag and stood on his hind legs to look on table tops. Soon he went to the bottom of the stairs and sniffed...it lead him right upstairs, into our room and to the closet door where he pawed the door and commenced to whining. Darn that terrier nose!!

Anyway, MERRY CHRISTMAS! We love you ALL!!

Drop a bomb

Mom and Dad dumped some big news on us this weekend. I know mom has been pretty sick for a few months now and she finally told everyone why...seems that me and Finnegan and Ollie are going to be big brothers cause mom and dad are expecting a human baby. Pretty exciting I think cept I know that a human baby will take a lot of time away from us...hope mom remembers that we were here first!
We are happy for mom and dad (expecially when mom's not sick!)and hope that this means there are going to be more toys in the house for me to play with! heheheh!

Prayers for the sick and for those who have left us...

We have recently lost two good WFT friends, Einstein was a true gentleman who lived in NC with his mom and dad and little sister Missy Pearl. Missy Peral was a puppy that mommy was taking in to foster and she never made it here because her mommy, Kate met her while transporting her and asked my mommy if she could adopt her right then and there! So Einstain lived out his days with a sweet little sister.
We've also lost Terrence, or T-Boy who was Jennie Bear's WFT and a loved one at that. Terrance was not even 7 years old and suddenly became ill and when rushed to the vet, it seemed he had a form of cancer that moved quickly and took his life.
We are sending prayers for Terrence and Einstein and their families. It makes mommy so sad to know what they are going through.
Now I have to ask you to put on your prayer hats or whatever people do to pray and help us pray for my dear friend Snickers who is gravely ill. We also want you to join us in taking part of a Worldwide Moment for Snickers. See more info below from Jake and Miss Fergi who have organized this moment for Snickers.....

As you may know

Miss Snickers is struggling

Mightily

Along with her family.

(The best place to keep up with updates

is Gussie’s blog.)

Last night looked as if it might have been her last.

This morning she rebounded with improved symptoms.

She is far from out of the woods

But she and her family

Including her gentle and loving brother Butchy

Have been granted another day.

We can’t help but believe

that part of the improvement is because of

The support and love that have surrounded her

From all around the world

Thanks to the linked paws

Of her blogging friends.

The Power of the Paw

We are asking everyone to set your alarms

And at exactly 11:00 PM GMT on Saturday 14 Nov 09

(Go to this link to find what time that is for you)

5:00 PM Saturday evening in Iowa

as Snickers' family sits down to eat

Turn toward them (in the central USA)

And join together in a silent minute

Of prayer, meditation, contemplation, reflection

Whatever feels right to you.

Followed by whatever means of communication

You choose.

Arrooing

Barking

Howling

Yipping

Yapping

Wooing

Meowing

Mewing

Purring

To wish and send Miss Snickers and her family

whatever is in your hearts

That will help them feel the Love and Support

They need right now.

Personally, we’ll be praying for a Miracle.

Then

Blow a Kiss

and send your Love and Prayers and Best Wishes

to Miss Snickers and her Family

and they will feel their arrival

in the breeze.

OK?

We believe it will help.

And we'll do anything in our power right now

To help.

Love,

Jake, Fergi, MomaSally and NinaGirl

Finnegan is fat?

Sunday mom and Dad took Ollie and I to grandma and grandpa's and headed off with Finnegan to Pennsylvania to see the Montgomery Kennel Club all terrier show. Mom raves about this thing all year long...it's kinda annoying- mostly because I never get to go. Mom always says something like "There are hundreds of dogs there and you aren't friendly"...sheez...how rude.

Finnegan gets to go every year because he's "friendly" and his breeders are there. I have to say I find myself flat out laughing my head off about this year's report. Most of you know that I'm a big boy, right? I'm pushing 40 lbs...that's right---just more of me to love. I was always a big boy but with the predinosne every other day, I really got big.

Anyway, Mom and Dad took Finney to the show and both of his breeders said he's fat! Heheheehheheh! HE'S FAT!!! I rolled around laughing when I heard this! Mom was less than thrilled... Finney is about 25 lbs and pretty tall for a wire but I've never thought of him as fat. Anyway, mom says that Finney and I are going to have to get back to doing the long walks with her...it's good for her too as she could loose some too--hehehehe!

Here is Finney enjoying the show.

Mom and Dad and Finney got to meet a lot of wires and their people- Vicki with Samson the Agility wire- Lucia Hackett with Bella the beautiful show dog who was headed off to earth dog the following day, a nice souple with Megan the ginger little girl, Dot and her hubby and Crystal, got to see Kathy Barger who has Lucy (although Lucy wasn't there) and many more. They got to meet some of the rescue adopters and got to see Finnegan's breeder, Mary Raggett who had Finney's mom and Cara and Mike from Dalriada who has Finney's dad. It was really a nice day and mom and dad and Finnegan came home really tired....wish I could go....I would have gotten a kick out of them telling mom that Finnegan is fat! heheheheeh! Made my week...

RIP Dear Traveler

Yesterday morning I lost my cousin, Traveler as he passed over the rainbow bridge. He was my Aunt Michelle's beloved nine-year old golden retriever.

Mommy got a call a bit after 7am saying Aunt Michelle was taking him in to the vet and that he wasn't doing well. Traveler had been having trouble for a year or so now and a battery of tests where inconclusive. In the end, seems he had an abdominal tumor and it ruptured yesterday morning. He was certainly uncomfortable and there were no options for him.

Traveler was the light of her life and quite literally her rock. She got him while she was doing travel nursing, thus his name, and he went everywhere with her. Here is a picture of Aunt Michelle giving Traveler a kiss before he goes to the bridge- actually all these pictures are of Traveler yesterday.

Traveler was the consumate golden retriever. Always friendly and happy, greeting you at the door with a ball, or two or even three in his mouth excited to see you and waiting for you to throw it. He was a gentle, kind soul.

They waited to let him go until Mommy got to the clinic to say goodbye to this dear wonderful boy.

Please say a prayer for him, and for my Aunt Michelle. She has had a difficult life, but I don't think she's ever known grief like this. Our family will certainly miss him.

May God greet him warmly.

Update

Just wanted to let you all know that Mom and Dad made it home okay from California. It's taken mom a whole week to get back on schedule, she keeps saying something about getting old...

anyway, she has spoken to Cathy and seems baby boy Cecil is doing really well. He's getting around well and the vet says his eyes look great! She takes him for rides since it is his favorite thing to do and has built a ramp along side her bed so he can easily get up there to sleep with her. Sounds spoiled, right? Yup! That's just what we wanted! heheheh!

Mom and Dad said to thank you all again for all the wonderful support you gave with Cecil. You all are the bestest!!

Now, I wanted to tell you about a dog in Austin that needs a new home. She is a young 9 year old smooth fox terrier. She is a retired champion and is a beautiful girl.

Isn't she a beauty? Here's another...

Jet is healthy, up to date on all vaccinations, is heartworm negative, is on heartworm and flea preventative, and is microchipped. She is a lovely, affectionate girl who wants nothing more than to be close to you and lay in your lap. This little girl really deserves a great home. Jet is housetrained (doggy door) and gets along well with other dogs.

If you or someone you know may be interested in Jet, please email Julie at wftmomx2@yahoo.com ...please pass the word! This girl needs a home!

Jet is in Austin, TX but transport can be arranged for the right family!

Cecil has gone to his new home

Cathy and Judy left with Cecil yesterday. What truly remarkable people. Cecil couldn't be in better hands.

They didn't end up making it Friday night---the poor ladies left NJ to head to Easton and the directions they printed were for Easton PA not Easton Maryland...their 3 hour drive was over 7...urgh...

Anyway, they ended up arriving in Easton late Friday night and stayed at a nearby hotel. They came around 10am Saturday morning and I'll tell you that it was love at first sight. I've never seen Cecil behave like that..it was like he was saying "I've been waiting for you for so long!" What a wonderful thing it was and it made it so easy for Steve and I to say goodbye because it was so clear that Cecil wanted to be with them. God found these women for him, no doubt about it. He jumped around and gave her sweet kisses and when she turned her attention momentarily to Finnegan, he got in front of her and pawed at her as if to say..."you are here for ME!"

Here is a nice video!

They brought three big bags of toys and snacks for our boys and they are rummaging through them as we speak...it's like Christmas around here!!!

When they left, Cecil was ready to go. Cathy climbed in the bacseat so she could sit with him and Steve [icked Cecil up to put him in and Cecil cried..he wanted to get to her...that was all he was focused on. He loves her already it was so clear. Just divine.

I've spoken to her today and she said he slept in bed with her last night and woke her up this morning to go outside. He has eaten well and is getting the hang of where things are at her house including his ramp up to the bed! She has an appointment for him on Monday at 6pm to see the eye specialist up there and a friend of mine whose dogs where seen by the same vet is going to meet her there kind of to be an ambassador! How nice!

We will miss that baby and his wonderful, gentle soul but I couldn't be happier for him...what a perfect family for him...what a gloriuous existance he will have...how thankful I am for this for him....and for all of you...thank you all so much for the love and support..for all the wonderul emails, and cards and for donating to make all this happen for him...we can all rest well at night knowing that we made a differnce...a BIG difference in this one boy's life and he, like myself are so very grateful to each of you.

Good News!

Cecil and I just got back from his checkup appointment and the news is good!! Yippee!!

I can hardly believe it! The pressure in his eye was 11 (anything under 15 in a glaucoma eye is good!) the pressure in the other eye was 7. I hate to even jinx it, but it looks good for him!! Oh! And the best part....he can still SEE!!! His vision isn't as good as it was immediately after his lens surgery, but it is better than going into all of this...and no telling what it will ultimately be untill all the swelling goes down.

We go back on Friday morning for his last appointment before he goes to his new home.

I can’t even begin to thank you all enough for all the prayers and support! I could never ever have done it without you all!!!!

By the way- we got 17 cards in the mail yesterday...yippee!1

Cecil is home again

Well, Cecil came home today. He had about 30 hours straight of maintaining a good eye pressure so the doctor decided to release him. He is so drugged that he is just a limp little wet rag. His eye looks, well....honestly it looks awful. Apparently the conjuctava sloughs off in the healing process and his eye just looks like its been in a train wreck. I pray the pressure holds steady now. Here is a picture of him on his way home---

And here is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge---we have to cross this 4 mile bridge each way to get Cecil to the vet which is about 100 miles round trip....but it sure is a pretty trip...just wish we didn't have to deal with beach traffic!!

He is on many more medications again...he's on 5 different drops (some right eye, some left, some both--- some twice a day, some threee times a day and some four times a day) and 6 different oral medications again some once a day, some twice, some three and some four...I bought a pill keeper to try to help me keep it all straight.

I can tell you that at this point he really can't see much but the Dr still calls it
"functional" vision. She said his optic nerve looks good, but no real idea how much damage there has been to the retina.

Here is Cecil getting carried inside by his daddy. You can see that the poor fella is really out of it.

I plan to take him to work with me tomorrow (despite the fact that it's against regulations)

Please continue to pray for him. He is certainly not out of the woods and it is clear the the poor baby just feels rotten.

His own email account?

Hi all-

A friend recommended that we create an email account just for Cecil so some of you who are a distance away can still send thoughts to Cecil and I will print them out and give them to his new owner Cathy and his Aunt Judy next week when they come to adopt him.

We would really like to have the cards, but this will work too!

Cecil's email address is....drum roll please....

cecilthewirefox@gmail.com

THANKS EVERYONE!!!
