I'm sure you remember the "Just say NO!" campaign, right? Well, I think my momma needs to be reminded of it. She has put me back on drugs and I don't think it's fair. The drug is called Clomicalm and it helps dogs with anxiety issues...that couldn't be me! I don't suffer from separation anxiety or anything, but I do stress myself out about stuff and then I get grouchy. Mom has been threatening to put me back on the stuff (I was on it several years ago...right after mom and dad adopted me and I was on it for over a YEAR!). Anyway- she's been threatening because she says I'm really grouchy again. I guess the last straw was biting dad on Saturday night. Yes, I admit, I'm a biter. I just can't help myself....I snap! But mom and dad are just too touchy! Their answer to this is to drug me. (note from mom: Its not the "answer" Mackie, but it does help you understand what you are doing a bit better so we can strengthed your training and it makes you less grouchy). So now I'm running a lot slower than usual and things seem to bother me a bit less (although I did growl at Dad last night because I thought he was going to make me go to bed and I didn't want to). I don't like drugs and I hope that mom and dad get over being so touchy soon!!
Yesterday was a busy day. People were here to visit the two little WFT's I told you about- Casey and Maggie, to see if they thought that they would like them to be a part of their family. First to come was one of my most favoritest WFT's, Bebe - and her parents. They came to meet Casey who is a 6 month old male wft. Mom said that Casey was the easiest WFT she had ever known- period- nevermind that he was only 6 months old. Me and Finney never met him cause he had been neutered and still had staples (whatever that is..but it doesn't sound good)so he could'nt handle how hard Finney plays and mom was afraid that I would be a grouch with him.
So anyway, Casey is pretty shy (I know..but mom assured me that he is all WFT and that he had just been bounced around a lot in the past few weeks which has made him kinda shy) but he loved little Miss Bebe. She was ever so gentle with him, which he really liked and she let him ease into getting to know her.
Here is a photo of Casey and Bebe- Casey is in the red and Bebe in the pink-
Soon, he was really to play. He would give her ear kissies and then she would give him ear kisses back. He would lay down and stretch out and then she would do the same thing- paws-to-paws. Mom said they were so cute. So Bebe's parents decided that Casey should be apart of their family and he went home to Philadelphia with them. Mom and Dad said they hope they can see them when they go to the bike race in June and the Montgomery show in October.
Here is Casey with Bebe and his new parents getting ready to leave for home.
And as if that wasn't enough excitement, then folks named Carol and Skip came to visit little Miss Maggie. You may remember that Maggie is the little girl I told you about she is 4 years old and only about 12 pounds. She is cute- cute!! She was a little ball of energy and loved to play with Casey. Mom out Finnegan out to play with her for a bit and mom said she thought that Finnegan played too hard so Finnegan came back in. Anyway, the folks who came to see Maggie live in Pokomoke City- down near Virginia on the Eastern Shore of Maryland- close to where Derby and his new sister Daphne live. They had never had a WFT before- but had Airedales, Scotties and even a Bearded Collie! Litle Maggie was very busy because of all the excitement and wouldn't settle down until Casey, Bebe and her parents left- so once they did, Miss Maggie showed what a god girl she was and she was getting so sleepy and fell asleep in mommy's arms. The folks decided that they were up to trying Miss Maggie and took her home with them too. Here is Maggie getting ready to leave for her new home. Isn't she a cutie too?
All in all, it was a good day! Two wft's found new, loving homes!!! (I have to admit, I'm so glad too- God know's we don't need any more dogs- even WFT's around here to share in my treats and lovies!!!) ; )
Hugs to Bebe and her parents and to Carol and Skip for adopting these WFT's and giving them new homes and big ol' hugs to Maggie and Casey- you did it guy's! Now make us all proud!!!
Mom let it slip that there are more dogs coming to "visit" this weekend. She says that neither of them are staying long because she thinks that they may have their forever homes to go to- but that they might be here a few days. There is a little girl named Maggie who is 4 years old and still really little at only 12 lbs and a little boy named Casey who is 6 months old and bigger than Maggie! Mom says that Maggie has had a hard life and is realy excited that she might be going to a home where she never has to move again. She says that Casey and his brothers and sisters where all rescued as puppies and now get new homes with terrier lovers! Mom says I have to be real nice to the both of them- especially Maggie since she is so small and that Finnegan will have to learn to play a bit easier to play with her.
This is Maggie-isn't she cute?
and this is Casey- he's a cute little fella too!
Keep your paws and pads crossed that both of them do get their new homes this weekend!
I'm starting a tag game...we'll answer the following questions and then tag three of your closest buddies asking them to do the same!
1.) If I were another kind of animal- I would be a _____ because__. 2.) My most-favoritest song is ____. 3.) If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live in____ because ___. 4.) If I were a famous movie star or personality, I would be ____ because ____. 5.) I should be the spokesman for ___(product name)___ because_____.
My answers are- 1.) If I were another kind of animal- I would be an elephant because I'm smart, I'm loving, I never forget anything, I take care of those I love and well- I'm big. 2.) My most-favoritest song is "The I love Mackie Hour" song my mon made up for me and sings to me in the mornings. 3.) If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live in California because it's warm there and I hate the cold...and I hate rain too. 4.) If I were a famous movie star or personality, I would be Heavy- D the rap star because, well, I'm big. 5.) I should be the spokesman for Gas-X because I'm a stinky fellow.
Finnegan's answers 1.) If I were another kind of animal- I would be a chimpanze because I'm a wild nut- a smart one, but wild nonetheless. 2.) My most-favoritest song is "You are my sunshine" that my momy sings to me. 3.) If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live in California because everyone else in my family would choose to and I don't want to be by myself. 4.) If I were a famous movie star or personality, I would be the scarecrow from Wizard of Oz because even though I look out of control I know whre every foot is and I forget I have a brain sometimes... 5.) I should be the spokesman for Jittery Joe's Coffee because .....now, what was the question again??
Okay- doesn't this sound fun?? I'm going to tag my pals- Butchy and Snickers Gus Dagger Agatha and Archie
Just want to say Happy New Year to all my pals! I wish the very best for you all and hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday and the very best year ever!! Thanks to you all for a great year filled with furry friends!!
Just wanted to hop on real quick to say Merry Christmas to all my doggie pals!! We are having a great day with new toys and new beds- not to mention some nice treats that thel little girls down the street made for us and brought us! (Everyone loves us heheheh!) Hope you ALL are having a wonderful holiday full of treats and love!
Just wanted to let everyone know that we are just three again...that's right, Kelsi went to her new home on Sunday. We were really sad t see her go even though we know she went to a really good place. Mommy called her her doll baby...I thought I was her baby! Its okay though cause Kelsi was a sweet little girl and Finnegan seems to really miss her poor little fella. He better get used to the way things are around here...in comes a WFT- there goes a WFT, you just never know. So, here's to little Miss Kelsi...we wish you the very best life!
I've been tagged by Lenny to post 8 random facts about myself. By the way- you absolutely MUST go to Lenny's blog to see his photo! It has to be the BEST wire photo ever! If you know a fox terrier- you'll understand why! Mom says she thinks that wires have the best senses of humors and you can clearly see it in Lenny's pic! Anyway...here are the Rules: Link to your tagger and post these rules: List eight ( 8 ) random facts about yourself. Tag eight people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them). Let them know they've been tagged by leaving them a comment on their blogs.
Let's see what I can come up with...
1) I was born on November 20, 2000 in Virginia....mom says I'm a scorpio and that I have the "tude" of one too! (Whatever THAT is supposed to mean??!) 3) I have had THREE names...yup! First I was Brucinimar's Buckshot (Which is the name on my AKC registration)the my previous owners called me BUD...and now I am MacInturff (named after family friends of my mom and grandparents) and they call me Mackie...can you keep all that straight?? 4) I am Left-centric...that is, I eat or drink out of the left side of the bowl..I ass people on the left side, I choose to walk on the left side and I only shake with my left paw... 5) I go to grandma and grandpa's house every work day...I get spoiled there!! heheheh! 6) I hate to share....ANYTHING. Let's get this straight- EVERYTHING in the house is mine. Oh, and in the yard too, well in this neighborhood (which goes from the Atlantic ocean to the pacific coast- up to the north pole and down to...um, Antartica..ITS ALL MINE SO HANDS OFF!!) 7)After I poop or pee I do this wind up thing with my left paw and then I do a cute little hop...mom loves it and I love the praise!! 8) I secretly love Finnegan and even Ollie...but don't tell them that!
I know, I know...I've been bad about writing! Know why?? My mom has completely and utterly lost her mind. That's right...she took in a foster dog...can you IMAGINE THAT?? Now there are FOUR of us...and if that were'nt bad enough there are THREE wire fox terriers living under the same roof. (Note from mom- Now, Mackie- don't make that sound all that bad- you all get along and besides, Finnegan and Kelsi love one another) Did you hear that? Yes, she said Kelsi and Finnegan love each other. Is that a reason that I should have to put up with another dog here??? Is that a legitimate reason I should have to share play time with Finn? Love time with Mom? Playtime with dad? My food? My bed? (Note from mom: Now Mackie! Don't you let these people believe that you have had to share your food or your bed..sheez you are spoiled!) Well, I guess she's right-besides, Kelsi is a cute little thing anyway- don't you think?? Mom says she thinks they have a great home already found for Kelsi and they are doing all these checks- vet checks, reference checks and home visits and then maybe Kelsi will go to her new forever home. I think it's harder to get a foxie from mom than it is to adopt a kid!! heheheh~!!
That's right! Move over Snoopy...us WFT's are taking over and we are starting in the air!!
Meet Stanley, he is a four month old wire fox terrier who lives in Leigh, Essex, England and he loves to go for "walks" in his miniature Spitfire.
Apparently Stanley's family, Phil and Sharon Cook made the miniature plane for a Halloween party and Stanley loved it! Mrs Cook said: 'Stanley loves it. We decided to go for a Spitfire as a nod towards Remembrance Day. 'He is content to sit in the cockpit and watch the world go by.'
He's all dressed up and ready to go too, with his bomber jacket, goggles and hat- wouldn't you say? How dapper!
(note from mom: I am amazed daily by the antics of these little fox terriers!! How they LOVE life and go at it with everything they've got! What an amazing breed of dog---and how comical they all are too!!)
That's right mom! We are amazing and Stanley is only 4-months old...wait till he get's a little more opportunities to astound to world!!! hehehe!
My mom and I wrote this post about a good friend of ours, Janie who got sick while being fostered. They though Janie had pancreatitis, but turns out that Janie ate a bunch of stuff that she shouldn't have gotten into. Thankfully Janie will be okay. She is being return to rescue and will still look for her forever home.
I'm a creature of habit. I admit it. I like routine and I like what I'm used to. If I have too much new stuff, I get a bit overwhelmed, and let's just suffice it to say I get a bit grouchy. My routine is that mom wakes me up in the morning (I'm usually a late sleeper and everyone around here gets up early) and gives me kissies and sings me the "It's the I love Mackie Hour song". That's a song mom made up for me just because she loves me so much...it gos to the Howdy Doody tune. Sometimes I'm in the mood to go outside and pee and sometimes I'm not, bout that's neither here nor there. Once up, I wow mom and dad with all the stretching moves I can do. I stretch the front legs, the back legs, the back and occasionally, I throw them a bone and give them a nice loud yawn....they LOVE that and I get all kinds of applause...again, neither here nor there. I get up, get my medication wrapped in a half-slice of cheese, get my 2 tablespoons of yogurt..yummy, and then get my leash on an head out with daddy to go to grandma and grandpas...I get into the back seat and then stand on the center console so as to get a good view pont to navigate Dad there (I really don't think he can go anywhere without me!)Then I have a whole day at grandma and grandpa's (full of a whole different set of routines, incluing my breakfast at 11am, routine walkies and routine snacks!) and at about 3:40pm I sit by the door and wait for daddy. I always know when he's comin'. Then I get loaded back up in the backseat, get back on the console to show daddy the way home. About 3 or 4 blocks away from home, I start to get excited...which of course gets Ollie all in an uproar and he starts barking. (Mom says she feels bad for dad having to drive along with all that noise in the car. Mom hates loud noises...and bight lights, but again, I digress....) Once home, I fight dad to get to the back gate; he opens the gate and I tear off to chase and destroy and vermin that dares be in my yard while I was away. I spend a lot of time then telling them what I'll do to them if they just had enough nerve to come out of the trees. Dad lets Finnegan out and we start to play. Once of the fun things we do is to play chase around the big tree bench in our backyard. Boy, does this get mom and dad laughing, so , of course, we keep it up! Check out the video...mom says that we do this for 5 minutes at a time, but sh never has the camera at the right time!
Anyway, then Dad puts us inside while he gets ready to ride his bike and I wait patiently at the door for mommy. She come through the door, waggles all around! (She loves that and says I have the best tail!) Then back outside with Finnegan and Ollie for some romping, then dinner, then back outside to play with the other boys and mom. Once it's time to some inside I like to lay on the sofa and rest. I really like it if mom sits down too, so I'll lay with her...best yet is when she has a blanket too! Then once it's bedtime (someitmes I have to remind the old folks its time to go to bed) I head for hte back door to go pee one last time before I settle in for the night...then the whole day start again tomorrow!!
Just want to tell you all about a chance to help Fox Terriers in need all around the country. The Fox Terrier Network (FTN) formed a Crafters' group that is raffling off it’s first quilt to help with its work for Fox Terriers. The first quilt is a beautiful antique quilt. The design is called "Dresden Plate." The squares were found in a chest by the grandaughter of the woman pictured. This lady lived in Arkansas and it appears the blocks were made from used flour sacks. During the depression, these flour sacks often became first clothing and then quilts. One of our members found the coordinating fabric and put the quilt together, then hand quilted it. The quilt back is muslin. The finished size of this beautiful quilt is approximately 64 inches X 80 inches. This is a great chance to get a brand-new Antique quilt just in time for Christmas!
All tickets, which are $5.00 each, can be purchased from the FTN website. Click on the ad and buy your tickets! Once you have paid, your ticket and number (or tickets and numbers!) will be e-mailed to you. Ticket sales close December 10, 2007! Get your tickets now! The drawing will be on December 14, 2007.
Thanks for helping FTN help our fox terriers and those that love them.
Mom and Dad have still been pretty busy and mom says her job has been a pain lately. So, that pretty much means that I have little if any blogging time. As it is I've had to sneak this time early in the morning while mom is in the bath to catch up with my blogger pals. Life's been pretty good although I still have some itchies. They are much better, but still there nonetheless. I've switched food again to Ollie's precription science diet food for allergies. Mom's not sure if that's why I am getting better, but she's doing everything she can to help. Which includes lots of baths (which I like) and lots of gunk in my itchy ears..which I don't like. Oh, well, I'm hoping the fall weather helps. Anyway, I wanted to show my friends what a complete gentleman I am when I eat.
Sometimes mom feeds me from a fork and I an so easy and neat about everything. Guess mom didn't realize how special this trait was until she tried to feed Finnegan and Ollie from a fork and they just don't get the concept. They paw it, or try to lick it off. Dummies. Mom says her schnauzer, Chancellor ate off a fork too so she didn't know it was a special thing (of course he could eat off a fork..mom brags about him all the time...Chancey was SO SMART she says, Chancey was so HANDSOME she says, Chancey, Chancey, Chancey...well, bah humbug....I'm just as good as stinky ol' Chancey) (Note from mom: Mackie- you ARE a wonderful boy and yes, as good as Chancey. You both are just very different, that's all and I don't love you any less.) Glad she got that straight, but she should have said I LOVE YOU MORE! But at least I have it in print...I AM AS GOOD AS CHANCEY!!! Hah!
Well, Mom and Dad finally came home from California where they said they had a "wonderful" time. Can't imagine how since I wasn't there, but I think they are just trying to save face. I really missed them and gave them a fantastic welsoming when they arrived. I gave mom frantic kisses and ran fast laps around the house and yard....they laughed and giggled at me so it was all worth it. Besides, just wanted to remind them how cute I am and what they missed while they where gone...oh, and that I had a smashing time too..so there! Mom said they really missed me...of course they did, I could have told them that. Silly people. Finnegan came home the next morning and I was glad to see him too. Mom said that he had a good time at the kennel, but I could tell he was happy to be home too. He slept and slept the next day with this big grin on his face. Silly puppy. Hope everyone had a great week and that all is well. I'll check in with everyone's blogs this week if mom doesn't hog the confuser.
Oh, by the way, check out my new video. Mom and Dad thought it was funny to show all my friends the big fuss I make over the hose...especially when I can't get to the hose. It's my favorite toy afterall and I'm not completely convinced that it isn't a snake getting my folks. I'll rip it apart! hehehehh!
Mom and Dad have been running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Seems they’ve been planning a “vacation” and are getting ready for it. I know what a vacation is, but I don’t understand how they can have a vacation without me. Seems they are planning to go to California for a week or so and have no plans to take any of us dogs along. Now, I can see not taking Ollie or Finnegan, but why leave me at home? I’d enjoy the 80 degree, humidity free San Diego weather more then they ever would…and the beach too! Mom said that they are going to leave Ollie and I with Grandma and Grandpa and Finnegan has to got to the kennel. I don’t think I’ve been away from mom for this long since they brought me home to live with them. I sure am going to miss them and I know mom is going to miss me…she keeps telling me so. I keep telling her that there is only one solution for this…take me too, but she says they cannot. Hub-bub. Anyway, I won’t be checking in with any of you friends for a bit over a week or so cause grandma won’t let me on her computer there…something about my nails on the keyboard…sheez! So friends, take care and I’ll see everyone in just over a week!!
My dad did make it home, by some miracle. I’ll never know how he gets around without me. Of course, maybe its all a big scam…maybe he just goes around the block and sits all day waiting until 4pm when he usually comes home and then walks in the door like he’s been at work all day…yeah, that must be it because I’m sure he needs me to navigate for him otherwise. Anyway, have I mentioned that I’ve been having skin trouble? Well, I have and mom decided she was going to wage a war again the hot spots and she is finally winning. I was taking benedryl everyday but now I’m on an antibiotic and it seems to be clearing up. Also, I get to have bath in oatmeal shampoo twice a week. Yes, I said, I get to…I like my oatmeal baths. For example, mom was kinda disappointed yesterday morning when she ran a bath for herself and went into her closet to get her clothes, I jumped into the bathtub. When she came in she said “Aw, Mackie!- Have you stolen mommies bath?” and I wagged my tail to say that I had which of course just made her laugh. I knew then that I was in and I’d get a good oatmeal scrubbing. Oh, it felt so good! This morning, Finnegan got a bath because mom said something about him going on a trip with them tomorrow. I can’t imagine that they would take that little punk and leave me at home. (Note from mom: As I have mentioned before, Mackie is a terrible traveler! He has too much anxiety and is hard to handle on long trips…Finnegan is a good traveler and rides very nicely.) Seems mom and dad are going to some family reunion in Pennsylvania tomorrow and my grandma is going too. Oh how I love my grandma. I know grandma will talk them into letting me go too…right, grandma??? ….grandma???...hello.., grandma??...This isn’t looking good for me.
I’m not really sure what is going on today because I’m at home and no one is around. Well, Ollie and Finnegan are home, but I mean people. Usually, when mom and dad go to work, Ollie and I go to grandma and grandpa’s house, but dad didn’t take us with him today and I’m worried. He may not know where he is, or how to get home! You see, I usually stand on the center console in the Rover and tell dad how to get places and without me, we may never see him again. Still not sure why we couldn’t go to grandpa’s today but now I’m most worried that we’ll never see dad again. He certainly can’t find his was around the sprawling city that we live in without me there as a guide.
(Mom: Mackie, you dad can get around fine. He was driving for years before you came around and besides, Easton is a very small little town.)
Don’t listen to mom. She has no idea what I’m talking about. Besides, it took me years to train her before I ever had to start with dad. Sheez, people.

It's been weeks now since I've written, and about the same time since I have even visited my blog or anyone else's. Sorry I've been so out of it. My little brother Finnegan (that's him running in the picture)had his first birthday on August 2 and mom and I agreed that we didn't feel much like doing a blog celebration so soon after losing dear Oscar. Since Oscar was just a little pup too, it seemed kinda weird to say good-bye to a good friend and celebrate something within a few days. Finnegan did have a nice birthday though. Mom took him off to camp and they had a birthday party for him there with all of his doggie camp pals. He even had frosty-paws and came home wearing a bandana that they gave him that said Birthday Boy! I have only one thing to say- S-P-O-I-L-E-D!!! Finnegan was so tired from all the play and his birthday party that he was too tired to come out of his crate for dinner that night! Heheheh! Mom says it was the single quietest night we've have since Finnegan came along! So anyway, my little brother is growing up. He's about as tall as I am now, but much slimmer still. Finn weighs in at 20 lbs and, well, let's just say I'm a lot more than that ; ) Finnegan and I get along famously. We love to romp and play and wrestle (I always win of course!) but he is a fast little guy and I can never catch him if he doesn't want me too.
Anyway, I want to say Happy Birthday to my great pal, Bogart and Jackson! Yesterday was Bogarts 2nd birthday and today is Jackson's birthday. Happy birthday pals! I hope you have as much fun as Finney did and that you get frosty paws and lots of lovin'!!!
I am in total shock. I just can't believe what I have just read. I got a message from Maggie to check Oscar's blog. I am so sad to say that the news is not good. Our dear friend Oscar passed away on Saturday morning. He had been sick only a short time and still unknown exactly what caused it. He was so young. He was only 1 in May, just a puppy. We are so sad and are crying for Katy and Martin because we know how much this hurts and how sad they must be. Please join us in sending healing thoughts and prayers to them. Rest in peace, dear buddy. You will be missed.
